It's been quite a while since my last time here. Even though I was always around on discords I have been inactive on INT for a long, long time.

I'm here to put an end to this. I'm back, and ready to serve.

When I started INT back in the days with Grom, I quickly went out of free time to deal with it. And it has been my regret ever since. Since, I ve also retired from my Administrator role in FR due to the lack of free time. Which was a good thing, since I finally focused back on my writing.

But life moved on, and my new job and new life allow me to have way more free time that I had at the creation of INT or when I left the FR staff.

I ve seen Grom call the other day for new staff members, to resurrect a bit INT. This is my chance to finally do what I didn t have the time to do after its création : develop this international project I dreamed about since the Transatlanteam project in 2015.

As said I m still retired staff in FR for now. I m not replacing our current Primary Contact.

I dont know what you guys need here, but I ll gladly help to get it done. I ll let you put a name on that role whatever it will be.

I'm Gémini, from Burgondy, in France. I'm 24, archaeologist, and staff on the French Branch - most notably I'm the one behind the Twitter account since the departure of Frog, creator (and ferocious guardian) of the GoI SAPHIR and of some dank 001. I am a big lore-junkie and determined after some time of acclimatation to really work on the fusion and cohabitation of the backgrounds of each branch ! (Yeah, yeah, "you fool")

I know this thread is apparently unused for the moment but, heh!, let's keep a trace for anybody who would like to know more in the future.

The Italian wiki already decided to create a parallel testing Mediawiki website as an archive for their articles and the French are working to setup a forum. This thread is an invitation for every interested branch to join this international collaborative project to try and develop all the tools and features SCP would need to work perfectly on Mediawiki. A dedicated Discord server will probably be created soon and shared on the Staff channels but it would be useful to know which branches would be interested in actively contributing before we start anything, so please take all the time you need to discuss it among your respective branches' Staff and let me know in #embassy if you are up for it. The fact that she refuses to acknowledge opposing points is problematic in and of itself. However, since Rik's discussion with her happened off-server, and despite her acting like a dick in it, it's not severe enough for us to really do anything about it except take it as a warning sign.

I myself demanded that sepia stop with that behaviour at the last instance, as it had become obvious that it was long overdue. There were no logs of warnings to her before, but I feel that that may indeed be in order soon. I logged mine action in the staff_log on the Discord server for those of you who are interested.

While her slashfic gushing of CotBG-Sarkic characters can be annoying, I don't see that as enough to merit disciplinary action. Usually, she has done that when Sarkicism or CotBG has been discussed. As she posts no pics when doing that, thus not annoyingly taking up screen space, I would not regard the odd comment from her as shitposting. When it comes to cuttlefish, I really do not mind, on the contrary, I think it has a calming effect (cute animals always do), and there is definitely no need for disciplinary action on those grounds. Consider also that, lately, she has been posting far fewer cuttlefish pics, and has generally been far less active on the server, if you find the gushing and cuttlefish that annoying.

Though since some time she focusses on cuttlefish and fem-CotBG, in which I see no direct rule breaking. Haven't seen her taking part in an argument since (or I missed it). It is discussable though if that constant fem-CotBG commenting, especially on totally unrelated topics, can be seen as rule-breaking shitposting. I have no problem with cuttlefish or other animals though.

Druing a discussion about wether or not the word "trap" was insulting (MIND YOU, that first, many of our members aren't native speakers and secondly, the discussion started because of a picture of a heterosexual, cisgendered man who dressed up as woman and the Admiral Ackbar-"Its a trap!"-meme afterwards), sepia called those who didnt exactly agree with wether it was offensive in this instance a dick. Twice.

With this the discussion excalated even more, resulting in one of our staff members, Zero Strider, leaving and as of yet not returning.

In thsi discussion sepiafishie argued that assaulting nazis is self-defense. It goes without saying, assaulting anyone can never be self-defense.

Also in this discussion, she seems not to take the people shes discussing with serious.

And also, she at one point argues that people who disagree with her only do so because they're not part of a group Nazis would threaten - which is arrogant and which I personally find insulting, especially since in this context I belong to the same "group".

As can be seen in the last screenshot, she invited people who wanted to continue the discussion to send her PMs. Following this the "sockpuppeting"-incident with another User (who was recently banned for that incident and other reasons) happened. Just to clarify: She invited people to message her, blocked one who did, and was then angry that he created another account to continue.

Because of her invitation to continue the discussion, I decided to message her after I saw the discussion. I will share the entire discussion per screenshots, and while it did not happen directly on the INT-server, I find it nevertheless important to consider. Especially since I have never written PMs with Sepiafishie before or after this, meaning that we really dont have any other relation than me being a staff member on the Discord and her being a user there.

In this discussion Sepiafishie showed signs of not taking me serious, used scrrenshots (possibly memes?) that had the words "you imbecile. you moron" in them, and in the end felt unsettled because I simply wanted her to think again about her arguing that assaulting anyone can be self-defense.

Now that you have seen this discussion, here's another reason why I decided to shar the entire conversation. Sepia accused me of sockpuppeting as well during the previously mentioned "sockpuppeting"-incident. She wasn't sure if it was me or the other user who DM'd her, so she accused both of us. Mind you, neither had she banned me, nor had I during the discussion reacted aggressively or threatening at any point, yet she went to Grom (the admin of the german branch where I'm a staff-member, mind you) and said that she believes I'm sockpuppeting her.

I hope all of that shows that we should have an eye on sepiafishie and show her much less leniency the next time she violates rule #1. By which I mean at least a kick. It was demanded she stopped being aggressive/insulting multiple times already.

Also, her constantly shitposting about being hot for cultists and cuttelfish has proven to annoy quite a number of our users. Anyone volunteers to tell her to tone that down?

First of all i do not like the idea of "hard guides for ban lenght", more like "guides how we can do it", suggestions lets say. After all even now we are discussing ban lenghts, so i want to keep it that way. Of course with some sort of guide. In short: EN style.

Agree. As most cases are completely different, it would be a good idea to decide case by case how long the user gets banned, and when they can repeal it. As such, I also think that the possibility to repeal a ban is a good idea. How we can do it though is another question.

But i have no idea sadly how we can make appeals possible: second server will not work (tried), so maybe friend requests?

What did you try, exactly, and how did it fail? Friend requests/PMs may or may not be a good idea, I think we could just try it out and see if it works. In general though, I'd think that having some sort of system where the whole Staff team can look at the repeal would be better.

As Grom stated, permabans should be used carefully. In general, I don't support permabanning a user, but that should be decided case by case. Additionally, I think that Neders proposal is a good idea. Three years are a long time for a teenager, but again, we should decide case by case. In other words, the guideline should be clear on how to handle troublesome people, but still be flexible enough for us to decide individually.

Logging stuff in one place is a good idea. I'd think that the bigger part of the Staff is more active on the Discord and as such we should use that (same thing with voting).

We should be able to ban users based on their actions on other servers. As an example, DE had its share of assholes and raiders. Note the should be able.

Anyway, those are my two cents.

I would change permabanning. The maximum regular ban time shall be 6 month, after that, they are banned for indefinite time. After X months, e.g. 12, they can appeal their ban. We then decide case by case.

Permaban can stay, after all permabans are for trolls and bots mostly. So people that come there for one purpose only: to be trouble and be toxic. As for "troublesome but pretty normal" users we should of course do not ban them permamently, but maybe year? And yes, we need a way to handle appeals. I will try personally to add said users to my friend list to have contact with them, just in case. We can keep kicks and short bans in Discord, fully agree. But any serious case should be noted here, i think. Lets say second ban of same user or very serious rule breaking.

I do not want any witch hunts. But if one user have ben banned for something in one place, and then they come here and they are NOT a productive, normal member, but decides to shitpost/ troll, they i think we have full right to remove them. We give new users privilage of doubt and we do not know them: this have no existance here.

In short i would want to have our disciplinary rules as simple as possible, but clear and fair at the same time. There are many staff members, not everybody need to vote/ take part in disciplinary actions. That said i would like if every disciplinary action would have agreement from at least 3 other staff members.

It is to be noted that this disciplinary action left several staff members dubious about the action itself and about our disciplinary rules, which are currently being revised.

However, I would like to see the maximum regular ban penalty to be 3 years. Three years is usually enough time for a person to grow out of a certain phase in life, change environments, and be exposed to new ideas, especially when it comes to teens. One year in the life of a teens brings oodles of change in character, and by the time that three years have elapsed, they will most likely have graduated to high school or uni or real life, and received enough new input to reasonably assume a change in attitude and behaviour.

From what I have observed, this is an issue that we have repeatedly been confronted with since the inception of INT, and many times have proven highly impractical if not outright inappropriate. Potentially, it might also hurt our standing with our fellow branches, and seeing as how we are primarily a neutral meeting grounds for the various branches, that is something we should try our hardest to avoid.

At the same time, I would like to avoid witch hunts, and like to give every user a fair chance. I therefore suggest that with banned or otherwise disciplined offenders from other branches, we skip Step 1 (Demand) and go straight to Step 2 (Warning), either at the first offence on our branch, or as soon as they enter Discord, seeing as how that has essentially become our community hub. This notice is preferably to be delivered by our bot, KIRA. This would save us the red tape of going through proper procedures to kick or ban somebody we know is toxic, as current practice is essentially asking and waiting for trouble to happen.

Furthermore, we as Staff should have the option of blocking users who, due to their offences on other branches, we highly suspect would be harmful to our users. We have had problems with users before messing around with sensitive topics like suicide (when we have people who're extremely sensitive and suggestive to such things) or troll about extreme ideologies only to incite flame wars, which has happened on multiple occasions. Said measure could also be used to block known raiders. Just letting extremely, harmfully toxic people waltz into our branch when we know they've been just as harmful on others is, in mine honest opinion, an extremely stupid thing to do.

Therefore, I reiterate, I request a revision to the following rule: Being offensive outside of the INT wiki or chat. We are not responsible for Wikidots or Discords private messages or the chats of other branches.

I would only permaban bots and users that we can never allow on our server, like pedophiles, and without ability to appeal.

To make it easier to determine what is what, I would call the first one "indefinite ban".

there already is a French branch and Canadian French is a dialect, not an independent language. As a representative of INT, I'm telling you that INT does neither support nor acknowledge your project, and that any and all problems that you may have are strictly among you and the French Branch. To prevent unnecessary drama and escalation, we recommend to stop your project.

We do nothing here as long as we don't have to. Let that kid wither or let them grow: that's their business. If they will continue with stealing then we will contact authorities.

28-02-2018: Crystal joined the French branch.

09-03-2018: Crystal stole the incomplete translation of an inactive member and posted it without proper crediting. We didn’t realize at the time.

13-03-2018: Crystal proposed creating a Canadian branch as it does not exist yet, and he would be in charge, then requested help to set it up. When asked why the French-speaking Canadians wouldn’t join the French-speaking branch of the SCP Foundation, he answered “We all know the instinct for independence of the French Canadians and that’s pretty much all”. A dozen of persons (both staff and more experienced members) explained to him that his project in its current form was rather useless and that they doubted he would be able to manage it properly, and he couldn’t argue back.

14-03-2018: Crystal claimed he found a forum violating the license, took the matters in his own hand by contacting them and filed a complaint when they did not listen to him. He was given an official Warning for that. User contested rather insolently.

The forum in question mimicked our 05command, with different account stealing the nicknames of staff members and copy-pasted posts and utilitarian pages. It was deleted the same day (about which Crystal bragged). It was later revealed that the admin of the forum was Crystal himself and that it predated Crystal joining our community. A second forum mimicking the forum of the French branch was also discovered with the same nicknames (this one not deleted http://bayondrpprincipal.forumactif.com/).

His answers regarding the project became less and less convincing on this second thread, as he persisted and ignored nearly every suggestion with a certain arrogance and a growing anger.

15-03-2018: Crystal broke one of the most common rules of the French Branch (posting a draft before having the idea approved). He was called to order in a very magnanimous way as a 24h ban could have been issued against him for this second major violation but behaved rudely and was called to order again.

16-03-2018: Crystal stole the incomplete translation of an inactive member and submitted it for validation, without changing a single word. We didn’t realize at the time.

Crystal apologized again for his aggressive behavior and revealed that he had already created the Canadian Wiki. However, the “Staff Organization” page of that wiki included several French staff members as staff (without them knowing) and plagiarized French guides.

We had suspicions of Crystal usurping the identity of some notable individuals (an admin of SCP-Gmod and a SCP-Youtuber). On his twitter account, he also claimed to be the manager of a 200k-youtuber.

17-03-2018: It was established that Crystal used at least two accounts to interact with us under different nicknames. He was banned 24h for that third major infraction and his behavior.

18-03-2018: It was revealed that Crystal had stolen drawings from a French artist (Anderlaxe), posted it as his own on the forum, our Discord, and external Discords. He used the nickname (Ander) for weeks in order to be more believable. Permabanned at this point for massive deception.

Several French translations have also been stolen and posted on the Canadian branch and the Author page of our admin Johannes (where he put his name instead of Johannes).

We also discovered he had created a Discord, where he copied every chan of our Discord, copy pasted our rules and even the latest news of our chan Announcement. We confronted him on this Discord but he denied everything, hiding behind his second account (despite being exposed we knew for certain it was him). We tried to explain to him one last time then left as he never cooperated.

23-03-2018: Crystal keeps stealing French material without proper crediting.

Crystal opened a thread on 05command-CA as follows:

Your knowledge of the lore is patchy. You seem to think each country has its O5 Council although it’s not the case. Your Canadian O5 Council is an inanity, since there only is one for all the Foundation. Your 001 is cliché and poorly written (even by Series I’s standards).

Then, you violate the license by not crediting what you take from the French branch.

But above all, you plagiarized an artist on Twitter by claiming the drawings you posted on Discord were yours. No one of the Foundation (no matter the branch) will ever trust a plagiarizer. Besides, we don’t even need to mass-report you, plagiarism breaks Wikidot’s terms of use. It’s that easy. The SCP community hates plagiarism, because we’re artists. You simply discredited yourself for life.

Today at 17:00 (GMT+1 French time), non-member Neremsa posted here, in our hidden place, a message in the name of the French branch, and not hesitating to criticize meanly one of my SCP, which is not an official and responsible behavior. I changed the permissions so non-members can no longer post. Behavior to monitor everywhere when he talks about us and NO DISCUSSING official matters with him until he apologizes properly. There are other staffs.

We consider Neremsa’s behavior was ok, so he will not get any excuse. We also think it’s incredibly sassy to ask for excuses despite never apologizing himself for his most serious offenses, but it’s not that important.

TL;DR: The whole thing is quite fucked up and he is fucked up as well. The guy has been a lying piece of deception all along, and we even have reasons to think he is actually not Canadian we even have the proof he's not Canadian and has probably never stepped a foot in Canada. We will monitor any activity of his as close as we can and already engaged the procedures to resolve the still ongoing situations. We also do not consider and will never consider his branch as legitimate.

The French staff fervently hopes all branches will cut off any unnecessary contact with this individual and his so-called representatives (at least as long as he does not apologize) and we hope he will be banned from here too.

(Plus, what if EN-voters mostly dislike an OK translation?): they will just delete it like every other article

In this assumption, voting was to be done on the Internation Archives, not on the English Wiki (as articles would be linked), that is my concern.

Embedd them from INT (recommended)

Definitely the most practical solution in may ways but EN-staff may feel uneasy with displaying articles from another wiki, that can be edited or vandalized by members of the other wiki (especially with our use of the Join button). We might need to lock embedded pages as to ensure EN the article will not be altered.

EN-staff may feel uneasy relying on the rating module of our wiki (Join button, etc.) to determine whether people like the article or not. Plus, what if EN-voters mostly dislike an OK translation? We do not have a Deletion Policy based on rating and I honestly don't want one.

Less practical, we'll need to keep both versions identical as you already mentionned, but I don't see any other problem.

So, to bring new wind here, I propose to propose the content below to EN-O5.

The first sentence only is valid if all branches approve of this formulation. EN Representatives are asked to provide hints how to formulate for maximum success, and to foresee questions that will be asked so we can answer them in the proposal. The Review Team is asked to search for mistakes.

Hereby we, the branches of the SCP Foundation, propose to create a hub on the main branch's Wiki, featuring translations from the International Translation Archive from other languages to English. We suggest to count this as another series, similar to -J or -EX, to prevent mixing things up with the main series.

We suggest you delegate staff members who decide what translations to show on your wiki. The background, writing style and references differ from branch to branch, not everything may be suitable for EN from the start. Optionally, we can provide articles we deem ready for EN, if your staff capacity is maxed out.

INT's Review Team will check the chosen translations for any mistakes and format with top priority. We suggest your delegates also check the chosen articles.

There are three ways to add translations to your wiki:

1. Embedd them from INT (recommended)
   • There will never be a difference between both translations
   • Embedded pages are indistinguishable from the original for the reader
   • Rating module and comments are running on the wiki the page is displayed, and unrelated to each other
   • The pages will be locked to prevent vandalism
2. Link to INT
   • Organizational the best way, but the users will land on INT and we will need a technical solution for them to go back to EN
   • Users would need to join INT to rate and comment
   • The pages will be locked to prevent vandalism
3. Copy them
   • This bears the disadvantage that both your and our version may differ at some point. This way is not suggested.

Much content will be needed to justify own hubs for each branch, so we recommend to put all translations into this INT-Hub. We have prepared a mock-up of how this might look (please note that this is a mock-up, the content is just for presentation). Of course you are free to use another layout.
As the look of such a hub depends on the amount of content, we have prepared different cases:

To make sure that all users notice that they are not in the main series, you could put the INT-SCPs in an own category and apply the INT's theme to it for example.

Decided with 2 days ban (calling Staff a bitch after official warning imo warants "go straight ahead two blocks"). I just want to point out that it was kind of emergency ban, cause i'm more than sure that there will be trouble.

These ideas are not sorted by priority. Topics regarding administration are marked with "Admin:". This is a lot, from highly important to nice to have, so buckle up:

SCP-KO users want nothing special, but want to make sure that current features of wikidot is available in new platform.

1. Article

Nothing interesting here for the first few stages of development.
I'm still insist on using of markdown and happy to see that I'm not alone. It looks like the only reasonable choice.

2. Embeddables and code in Articles

I'm strictly against usage of custom user code and styles.
Yes, they're helping us now to plug the holes in the wikidot functionality, but they bring a lot of troubles in terms of unification, maintenance and security. I believe that design of new hubs and pages AND custom integrated functionality should be added and updated only via staff members. You may say that it will add workload to staffers and that's true, but I think that custom features & design should be privilege for pages that already have good content, not vice versa.

3. Site Structure

- Sites (EN, RU, etc.)
- Namespaces (sandbox, drafts, etc.)
- Pages
- Pages revisions (just like in wikidot, but maybe with branches)

- Global tags (object, tale, euclid, etc.)
- Local tags (site-specific things)

4. User profile

Nothing to tell here now.
Maybe we (scp-ru) will use Discord as intermediate source of user accounts for migration since we already have simple mechanism of tethering wikidot accounts to discord ones.

Nothing to say here now, not at this point of time. I don't see any big problems here, something similar to the current structure would work.

7. File handling

Current model is pretty good, but maybe we'll want to move files from articles to some separated place.

8. Cross-branch features

Interwiki should be integrated into the platform itself.

Global tags can be useful.

9. Administrative features

Irrelevant question at this stage of development, since there are too many details.

Wikidot is becoming more and more unreliable and unstable, and it has not gotten any updates for years now. This makes relocating to another platform inevitable on the long run, and as it isn't getting better with Wikidot, the earlier we finish it, the better. Of course we could just transfer to another Wiki-farm. But there the problems would not necessarily end, and of all Wiki-farms, Wikidot is one of the better choices, as others are full of advertisements or are having stricter regulations. So the possibly best solution would be to create an own platform.

Don't worry, the content and even votes can be transferred automatically. Also financial and legal questions will be settled in future steps. There are people who can and will program the new platform from scratch if necessary. It is also planned that all branches find a new home there. All is in good hands and this time it will be finished, thereof I am certain.

Currently there is no definite date or plans. And for the start, it would be beneficial to know what features we want to keep, and what features we want to have in the future. Therefore I ask all branches to conduct a survey to answer these questions for their branch.

Everything is allowed, you can add as many entries as you want. No idea is too weird. This basically is one big brainstorming and the ideas are being evaluated later.

This survey will actually run till the 31th March, though we may choose to prolong it. Anyway please give us an intermediate result on the 10th March.
