So, we recently talked about the member-role and were wondering about its function. Grym wrote the following:
I did it mostly bc we had this role in the -FR chan. This is useful to be sure the new users can only access one chan. By doing so, we avoid having troll comings and posting shit in multiple chans. Once they are authentified as "real" members, they can access further chans. Also, it is useless to let people no being part of the community to access writting-help chans.

I personally do not think we need such a role right now. I think an invisible role "limited-access" to limit problematic users to general discussions would be better.
Removing the members role would reduce moderation effort and improve overview. We could make the branch roles visible instead. Because of our lack of trolls it right now only indicated who is a new member (or who didn't manage to add the branch-tag).
Please choose one of the following options (feel free to propose other possibilities):
- Remove "members" role and add "limited-access" role.
- Remove "members" role without replacement.
- Keep the "members" role and limit access to non-members to #general_discussion.
- Don't change anything.
